The Angel
A winged figure across the vamp, in the manner of carved marble.

The Marble Edit. One pair, painted once
The Angel is the first of the Marble Edit and the design on the pair that exists today: a winged figure painted freehand across the vamp, the wing opening along the outside of the shoe and the face turned toward the toe. It is painted in line and shade only, the way a statue is lit, so the leather's own honey is the marble's warmth.
The vamp is one panel with no seam across it, which is what lets a painting run unbroken from the collar to the toe. On the Marble Edit the heel is painted too, so the pair reads from every side.
One pair. The design is painted once and is not painted again.
One message with your city and we reply with two fitting slots. You hold the shoe before you decide, and nothing is charged online. Painted work is done after your fitting, so the painting is never lost to a remake. Ready 20 to 25 days from the day you order.
The shoe underneath
- Construction
- Hand-welted. The sole is stitched to a welt that is sewn to the insole by hand, eight to ten stitches to the inch, in waxed linen. Not glued, not Blake-stitched. A worn sole is cut off and a new one sewn on.
- Upper
- One panel of full-grain calf from collar to toe, 1.3 to 1.6 mm. No apron seam, no moc stitch, no seam across the top. Tanned in Pakistan.
- Colour
- Pale through the centre, honey at both ends. The toe and the heel are darkened by hand with a cloth, so no two pairs shade the same.
- Waist
- Bevelled under the arch: the sole is cut narrow by hand so the shoe shows a curved line along its side.
- Heel
- 22 mm, stacked from layers of leather and lacquered dark teal, with a dark replaceable top piece.
