How Long Does a Custom AF1 Take to Paint?

The straight answer is that most custom Air Force 1 pairs take ten to fourteen working days at the bench, plus delivery, and that the clock starts when your brief is confirmed and payment is made in full, not when you first message. That is the number to plan around, and the rest of this piece explains what moves it earlier or later, so you can work backwards from a date rather than hoping.

The reason it is measured in days rather than hours is that painting on leather is mostly waiting. Each colour has to cure before the next one can go near it, or the two bleed into each other, so a pair is built in sittings across several days rather than in one long session. A design with many layers or many colours simply has more of these waits in it, which is why density, not size, is what lengthens a commission.

So a restrained pair, one or two colours on a couple of panels, sits at the shorter end of that range. A dense, all-panel design, a full floral, a layered scene, a multi-colour drip, sits at the longer end and occasionally beyond it for genuinely complex work. When you commission, we tell you honestly where your specific design falls rather than quoting the average and hoping, because a complex brief promised in a week is a promise that breaks.

Delivery is on top of the bench time, and it depends on where you are. Within Pakistan a tracked courier is usually two to four working days after the pair is finished and photographed. If the pair is a gift or is meant to land before a particular date, a wedding, an Eid, a birthday, the single most useful thing you can do is tell us the date before you commission rather than after. Given a deadline up front, we can tell you honestly whether it fits, and if it is tight we can either confirm it in writing or advise you to simplify the design so it does. Working backwards from the date is always safer than forwards from the order.

The other thing that quietly protects a deadline is settling the brief quickly. The ten-to-fourteen-day count begins at brief confirmation, so a week of back-and-forth about the design before you decide is a week added to the wait, even though no painting has started. If you are working to a date, come with the idea as settled as you can, and use custom AF1 ideas to arrive at a direction before you message.

One thing we will not do is rush a pair in a way that shows, because a hurried commission is visible in the finished shoe and lasts as long as the shoe does. If a date genuinely cannot be met properly, we would rather say so than deliver work we are not willing to put our name on.
